Camels to host Furman in home opener

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – After a pair of road tests to start the 2025 season, Campbell makes its home debut on Saturday, September 13, hosting Furman in a nonconference clash. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. at Barker-Lane Stadium.

Parking opens at 11:30 a.m., with stadium gates opening at 2:00 p.m.

QUICK HITS
  • Saturday will mark the first-ever matchup between the Camels and Paladins in football. Campbell begins its 18th season of football since the sport returned to Buies Creek in 2008, while Furman is in its 120th season in 2025.
  • Furman is the first of three first-time opponents for Campbell in 2025 (NC State, New Hampshire).
  • Campbell is 9-7 all-time in home season openers.
  • Campbell is one of 31 FCS programs that will match up against at least two FBS opponents this season, and one of three CAA schools on the list. The Camels also head to NC State on October 4. Only UT Martin will play three FBS opponents this season.
  • Campbell begins the 18th season of its modern era of football (since 2008) in 2025.
  • Head coach Braxton Harris, the third head coach in Campbell's modern history, begins his second season at the helm in Buies Creek.
  • Three Camels played in the 2025 NFL Preseason, led by third year pro Julian Hill, who again made the Miami Dolphins' initial 53-man roster. Offensive linemen Mike Edwards (Buffalo) and Tyler McLellan (Tampa Bay) also saw time this preseason.
  • The 2025 Campbell team features 44 total returners and 56 newcomers, including 36 transfers and 20 freshmen.
  • Of Campbell's 44 total returners, the team welcomes back 11 total offensive or defensive starters, including six on offense and five on defense.

All single game, including Homecoming, season tickets, mini-plans, and parking for the 2025 football season remain on sale.

As always, all Campbell students with a valid CU ID card will receive a ticket free of charge to all home Fighting Camel home football games. Kids 12 and under can again receive free tickets while supplies last.

CLEAR BAG POLICY
Campbell University Athletics implements a clear bag policy that regulates the size and type of bag that may be carried into Campbell Athletics facilities, including Barker-Lane Stadium. Fans are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the new policies before arriving at the venue to minimize time spent searching bags at security checkpoints.

Bags that are approved include:
• Clear tote bags made of plastic, vinyl or PVC that do not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″
• One-gallon clear plastic zip-style bags
• Small purses or clutch bags that do not exceed 6.5″ x 4.5"
• Medical or diaper bags must be accompanied by a child

Bags are that not permitted include:
• Backpacks
• Printed pattern or tinted plastic bags
• Drawstring bags
• Fanny packs
• Camera or binocular cases
• Large purses or bags

PEPSI TAILGATE TOWN IS BACK
For the third straight year, Pepsi Tailgate Town is your stop before heading inside Barker-Lane Stadium.

The football pregame experience, which debuted in 2023, is back and better than ever, featuring the same great, convenient location as last year, just outside the Barker-Lane Stadium gates.

Come hang out with other Fighting Camels before the game in the tailgate lots between Barker-Lane Stadium and Stadium View Apartments, where Campbell will host activities for the whole family, including food trucks, inflatables, yard games, music and face painting, as well as events from local businesses and organizations.

Pepsi Tailgate Town fires up three hours before kickoff for all six Campbell home dates this fall, closing just prior to kickoff.

CAMPBELL FOOTBALL TELEVISED IN FOUR NORTH CAROLINA MARKETS THIS SEASON
Campbell Athletics is proud to announce a new partnership with Grey Television to broadcast Campbell Football home games in the Greenville, Wilmington and Charlotte television markets during the 2025 season. The games will also be simulcast in the Raleigh market on WRAL2.

This exciting collaboration will bring live coverage of five key home games from Barker-Lane Stadium directly to viewers across the region for the first time in Campbell's football program history. The scheduled broadcasts include:
September 13, 3:30 p.m.: Furman at Campbell
September 20, 6:00 p.m.: Bryant at Campbell
September 27, 3:30 p.m.: Western Carolina at Campbell
November 8, 2:00 p.m.: William & Mary at Campbell
November 15, 2:00 p.m.: Elon at Campbell

With Campbell University continuing to grow as a competitive force in the Coastal Athletic Association, these televised games provide fans an excellent opportunity to follow the Fighting Camels on their home turf. Campbell Athletics worked with Collegiate Sports Management Group to help secure the broadcast opportunity.

LAST TIME OUT
East Carolina scored on its first three drives and the Pirates defeated visiting Campbell 56-3 at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. Four different Pirates rushed for touchdowns, while holding Campbell to 151 total yards.

Katin Houser completed 25-of-35 passes for 314 yards and two touchdowns, also rushing for 14 yards, helping the Pirates roll up 535 yards of total offense. London Montgomery rushed for two scores, with Marlon Gunn, Jr., Parker Jenkins and DeJuan Lacy adding touchdowns on the ground. Mason Scott led 15 Pirate receivers to catch a pass on the night, hauling in three grabs for 81 yards and a TD.

On the defensive side, Kieran Davis notched six tackles, with Jasiyah Robinson recording a sack and a forced fumble with two tackles.

Kamden Sixkiller paced Campbell, completing 18-of-25 passes for 121 yards, connecting with Mike Chandler II five times for 31 yards, and Randall King twice for 34 yards. JJ Cowan also rushed for 19 yards on five carries.

LEADING THE CAMELS
Kamden Sixkiller has tossed 265 yards and a touchdown, completing 60.3 percent of his passes, while Randall King has hauled in seven passes for 86 yards. JJ Cowan has also rushed for a team-high 62 yards.

Defensively, Logan Livermon and Jojo Pace have each tallied 12 tackles apiece, with Pace adding a forced fumble.

THE MATCHUP: FURMAN
Furman heads into the weekend at 1-1 on the season, traveling away from home for the first time in 2025. The Paladins opened the season with a 23-21 win over William & Mary, followed by a 39-38 overtime loss to Presbyterian.

Trey Hedden has passed for 442 yards and two touchdowns, connecting on 72.5 percent of his attempts. Evan James owns 15 catches for 157 yards and a score, while Gavin Hall has rushed for 119 yards and two touchdowns. Ryan Earl, meanwhile, owns a team-high 15 tackles.

The Camels will follow the Furman game with matchups against new CAA foe Bryant on September 20 (6:00 p.m.) and Western Carolina on September 27 (3:30 p.m.).
