BUIES CREEK, N.C. –
Randall King hauled in four touchdowns and Campbell outlasted Bryant in double overtime, 50-48, in Saturday's CAA matchup at Barker-Lane Stadium.
The Camels (1-3, 1-1 CAA) picked up their first overtime win since 2019 (W 49-47 at Gardner-Webb, 3OT), hitting the 50-point mark for the first time since 2023 (W 56-7 at The Citadel), topping Bryant (2-2, 0-1 CAA) in its CAA opener.
In a game that featured four ties and five lead changes, the Camels and Bulldogs headed to overtime at 35-all after Bryant knotted the score with Aldrich Doe's 35-yard TD reception from Brennan Myer with six seconds to go in regulation.
Bryant led 28-21 with 5:33 remaining in the fourth quarter after Liam Lindo's pick-six, and turned Campbell over again on its next possession with Hollis Dirstine jumping on a fumble.
After a missed field goal, Campbell struck on its first play from scrimmage with
Kamden Sixkiller launching a 77-yard TD strike to King. Four plays later, DeVonyae Pettis' strip-sack returned the ball to the Camels with 1:55 remaining.
Mike Chandler II's 33-yard run set up another TD from Sixkiller to King, this time an 11-yard score.
From there, Bryant used seven plays to cover 75 yards, converting a fourth down at the Campbell 42 yard line before Myer's TD pass to Doe.
The teams traded touchdowns in extra time, with Bryant striking first on Myer's 18-yard run, followed by a double pass that ended in a TD from Chandler to King, his fourth of the night. Campbell followed with a six-play TD drive, with
Dawson Adams-Grenier notching a seven-yard TD catch, with
Naieem Kearney tacking on the two-point conversion, punching in a rush up the middle.
The Bulldogs needed just two plays to find the end zone again, with Dylan Kedzior scoring from seven yards out. The two point try, however, failed with Myer's pass being batted down, securing the overtime win for the Camels' first win of the 2025 season.
King ended the night with eight catches for 142 yards, the sophomore's second straight game over the century mark, while Sixkiller tossed five TDs, one short of the school single-game record, completing 29-of-48 passes for 334 yards and two interceptions, with Campbell totaling 557 total yards.
Trayjen Llanas-Wilcox added three catches for 51 yards, while Chandler snagged three catches for 40 yards with a score, also throwing for a TD in the win.
Barry Tate, meanwhile, rushed for 59 yards on a second quarter touchdown run, leading the Camels who ran for a season-high 220 yards.
King's four touchdown receptions tied a school record for single-game TD catches, matching Aaron Blockmon's output in a win against Chowan in 2016. King's four TD catches are the most by a Camel against a Division I opponent.
Logan Livermon paced the Campbell defense with 10 tackles, while Pettis collected 2.5 stops for loss and forced a fumble, one of three turnovers for the Fighting Camel defense, with Donovan Philord and
Evan Spivey adding interceptions.
Myer led Bryant with 215 yards passing and a touchdown, completing 15-of-34 passes with two interceptions, while rushing for two scores. Kedzior also ran for a pair of touchdowns with 93 yards on 13 carries, while Doe made five catches for 92 yards and a touchdown.
Lonnie Rice led Bryant defensively with a game-high 11 tackles.
Next up, the Camels will be back at Barker-Lane Stadium for the third straight week, hosting Western Carolina on September 27 (3:30 p.m.) for Military Appreciation Day, presented by Christie Yarbrough RE/MAX United.
