Camels set to host Coastal Carolina for Senior Night, travel to NC State

BUIES CREEK – The Campbell women's soccer team is set to host Coastal Carolina on Thursday night at Eakes Athletics Complex before traveling to NC State on Sunday evening. 
Kickoff against Coastal Carolina is set for 7 p.m. and will be streamed on FloCollege. Sunday's matchup at NC State will be broadcast on ESPN+.

  • Thursday's matchup will be the 15th all-time meeting between the two programs

LAST TIME OUT
  • The Fighting Camels suffered its first loss of the season, 1-5, against 24th-ranked Virginia Tech at Eakes Athletics Complex. 
  • Gillian Garrison tallied her second goal of the season in the 10th minute of the first half to give the Camels the lead.
  • Samantha Witte recorded her second assist of the season, feeding Garrison for the goal. 
  • The Hokies scored five unanswered goals and outshot the Camels 21-6. 
 
GARRISON GOALS
  • Sophomore Gillian Garrison scored her second goal of the season against #24 Virginia Tech on Sunday. 
  • Garrison netted her first goal of the season against Radford, which marked her first career goal. 
  • She tallied a career high three shots at Queens and a career high two shots on goal against #24 Virginia Tech.
 
SHUT 'EM OUT 
  • Anais van Doesburg made just her second and third career starts in the first two matches of the season. posting back-to-back shutouts
  • The last time the Camels posted back-to-back shutouts to open the season was in 2011. The Camels picked up a 5-0 win over Delaware to open the season and 2-0 win over UMBC in game two. 
  • van Doesburg is one of three CAA goalkeepers with multiple clean sheets this season. 
 
PRESEASON RECOGNITION
  • Sophomore defender Caitlyn Boucher was tabbed preseason All-CAA honorable mention. Boucher earns her first career honor after appearing in 18 matches last season. The defender made 16 starts tallying 1,051 minutes for sixth on the team. She recorded one shot on goal.
 
WHAT THE POLLS SAY
  • Campbell was picked to finish fifth in the South division with 34 total points. Elon was picked to finish first in the division with nine first place votes followed by Charleston (54) and William & Mary (41). Charleston received one first place vote and William & Mary received two. UNCW was two points ahead of the Camels as they were picked to finish fourth. Hampton rounded out its half of the poll with 17 points.
