BUIES CREEK – Lance Waddle's 25 points and double-doubles from
Nordin Kapic and
Ben Ritger led the Camels past Francis Marion 91-80 Tuesday night.
Campbell's first of two open exhibitions this season got off to a slow start, as the Camels shot 32% in the first half and found themselves down 51-44 at the break.
Halftime adjustments tightened the screws defensively, and helped Campbell outpace the Patriots 47-29 after halftime, and going ahead by as many as 15 with eight minutes to play.
Waddles finished with a game-high 25, shooting 8-13 from the floor and 5-7 from distance. The Omaha transfer did most of his damage in the second half, scoring 17 after the break along with five second-half boards.
Kapic led the Camels early with 13 first-half points en route to a 17-point, 12-rebound double-double. The big man from Austria was nearly perfect at the foul line, going 10-11.
Ritger hauled in six offensive boards to help the Lee transfer to a 15 & 11 double-double.
Rashawn Inglemon added 19 with five triples to put four Camels in double figures.
Francis Marion was led by 22 points from TJ Lewis, while 11 players scored for FMU.
The Camels are back in action Saturday morning, with an intrasquad exhibition at 9 a.m. as part of Campbell's homecoming.
