Camels fall to Chanticleers

CONWAY, S.C. – Campbell dropped a high-scoring 4-2 affair to Coastal Carolina Tuesday night at the CCU Soccer Complex.

The Chanticleers (2-4-4) scored the first two goals of the match in the 18th and 32nd minutes. Mateo Caride opened the scoring, then Brady Schumacher doubled the home team's advantage.

The Camels (0-10-1) got on the board thanks to the effort from Kana Dube. He narrowly beat the Coastal goalkeeper to a 50-50 ball in the box and was able to poke it into the net.

The teams entered halftime with the 2-1 scoreline, and Coastal Carolina extended the lead back to two with a converted penalty kick by Alberto de Miguel in the 72nd minute.

Campbell cut into the lead once again in the 84th minute. Nicholas Vingsgaard put a shot into the box, and Andrey Mora was first to the deflection off a defender and sent it into goal for his first net-rippler of the season.

Schumacher took advantage of Campbell's aggressive press in the final minute to score his second of the night with 56 seconds remaining.

Both squads recorded 13 shots with seven efforts on frame. Campbell won the corner kick battle, 8-2. The teams combined for 33 fouls, and Coastal received three yellow cards compared to zero for Campbell.
