BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell suffered its first losses of the 2026 season Friday night at the War Eagle Classic, coming up short against Illinois and host Auburn at Jane B. Moore Field.

Amber DeSena led Campbell offensively across the two games, finishing 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Sophomore
Hannah Cornetto added a home run and drove in a pair of runs.

GAME #1 – vs. Illinois
Campbell dropped a tight duel to Illinois on Friday afternoon. The Camels' lone run came in the third inning when sophomore
Haley Krebs drew a walk, advanced into scoring position and scored on a sacrifice fly from DeSena. Campbell threatened late, putting runners in scoring position in both the fifth and seventh innings, but Illinois escaped each jam to preserve the victory.
Freshman
Katelyn Hubley delivered a strong outing in the circle for her third career start, tossing a complete game while allowing just two runs on seven hits and striking out six.
GAME #2 – at Auburn
Campbell jumped out to an early lead against Auburn in the final game of Friday night, scoring twice in the top of the first inning. Senior
Allyiah Swiney reached base to start the rally and scored on an Auburn error, and Cornetto followed with a homer to left-center to give the Camels a 2-0 advantage. Campbell added another run in the third inning when junior
Madison Ford scored on an RBI single by DeSena.
Auburn's offense continued to collect big plays and pulled away from Campbell for the 11-3 victory in five innings. The Camels collected five hits in the contest, including singles from Ford, Swiney, DeSena, Cornetto and Montgomery.
