Bennett tosses no-hitter against Rider

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Campbell softball team collected a win Saturday on the second day of the Battle at the Max tournament, hosted by ECU at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium.

Eight different players recorded hits across the doubleheader. Senior Charlie Montgomery led the Camels, going 4-for-7 with two RBIs. Junior Madison Ford reached base five times, finishing 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored. In the circle, junior Ryleigh Bennett delivered a five-inning no-hitter in the nightcap. Her performance is Campbell's first no-hitter since April 4, 2025.

GAME #1 – vs. St. John's

Campbell dropped a tight opener to St. John's, 3-2, on a walk-off two-run single.

After the Red Storm took a 1-0 lead in the first, neither team scored again until the fifth. The Camels answered when Ford drew a walk and later scored on freshman Kylie Specht's RBI fielder's choice.

Campbell briefly grabbed a 2-1 lead in the sixth as Montgomery lined an RBI single down the left-field line to score sophomore Hannah Cornetto.

Junior Emily Allegood was steady in the circle, allowing two earned runs while the defense collected 13 groundouts.

GAME #2 – vs. Rider

Campbell responded in the nightcap with an offensive outburst and strong defense. Bennett was dominant, tossing a five-inning no-hitter against Rider with one walk and one strikeout on 52 pitches.

The Camels plated six runs in the first inning and never looked back. The frame was highlighted by sophomore Emma Slutzah's three-run double to right-center and RBI singles from Cornetto, Specht and Montgomery.

Campbell added a run in the fourth and five more in the fifth, as five straight batters drove in runs with the help of walks, singles and a hit batter.

Five Camels recorded a multi-hit outing, and seven drove in at least one run.
