BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Campbell softball team opened the 2026 season with two victories over Tennessee Tech and Florida A&M on Friday night at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium as part of the opening day of the Campbell Stampede.
Senior
Allyiah Swiney reached base in six of seven plate appearances on the day and recorded both a home run and a triple, scoring four times. Senior
Charlie Montgomery drove in four runs across the two games and added extra-base hits in both contests.
GAME #1 – vs. TENNESSEE TECH
Campbell opened with a 6-2 victory over Tennessee Tech. The Camels scored four runs in the first inning and never trailed, behind a complete-game performance from junior
Kasey Wolfe in the circle. Wolfe allowed two runs and struck out four to earn the season-opening win and her first as a Camel.
Campbell struck early in the bottom of the first, taking advantage of a Golden Eagle error. Swiney drew a walk and later scored on a throwing error. Junior
Grace Kealy followed with an RBI walk before sophomore
Emma Slutzah delivered a two-run single to center field to make it 4-0.
Tennessee Tech got on the board in the third inning on an RBI double, cutting the deficit to 4-1. Swiney answered in the fourth with a solo home run to deep center field, the first Campbell homer of the season, to extend the lead to 5-1.
The Camels added another run in the fifth inning when Montgomery tripled to left field and scored on Kealy's RBI groundout for a 6-2 advantage.
Montgomery finished 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and a stolen base. Graduate student
Amber DeSena went 2-for-3 with a double. Slutzah drove in two runs, while Swiney scored twice and homered to lead the offense.
GAME #2 – vs. FLORIDA A&M
Campbell erupted for six runs in both the second and fourth innings to defeat Florida A&M, 12-4.

Haley Krebs singled to load the bases. Junior
Madison Ford drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly, and DeSena followed with a two-run single down the right-field line. Sophomore
Hannah Cornetto added an RBI single before Montgomery cleared the bases with a two-run double to make it 6-0.
Florida A&M scored two runs in the top of the third, but Campbell responded in the bottom of the fourth with another six-run inning. Ford doubled to lead off the frame, and Swiney tripled home a run.
Cornetto delivered a two-run double to right-center field, and Montgomery added an RBI single.
Emily Allegood drove in a run as a pinch hitter before Davis plated the final run of the inning on a fielder's choice to extend the lead to 12-2.
Swiney finished with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI. Montgomery went 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Cornetto added two hits and three RBIs, and DeSena drove in two runs.
In the circle, freshman
Katelyn Hubley earned the win in her collegiate debut, allowing four runs on 10 hits while striking out five in five innings.
Florida A&M added two runs in the fifth inning, but Campbell closed out the contest to secure the 12-4 victory.

The Camels return to action Saturday afternoon for rematches against Florida A&M and Tennessee Tech at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium. Campbell will face Florida A&M at 3 p.m. and Tennessee Tech at 5:30 p.m.
