BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Campbell softball team continued its impressive offensive start to the season, earning a pair of run-rule victories, defeating Florida A&M 15-4 and Tennessee Tech 11-3 at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium on Saturday night.
GAME #1 – vs. FLORIDA A&M (W, 15-4)
The Camels opened day two of the Campbell Stampede with a dominant performance over the Rattlers, scoring five runs in three straight innings.
Junior
Emily Allegood earned the win in her first appearance of the season in the circle, allowing four runs over three innings while striking out two. Junior
Kasey Wolfe worked two scoreless innings and struck out two.
Sophomore
Haley Krebs led the offense, going 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Junior
Madison Ford finished 1-for-2 with two walks, a double and an RBI, while senior
Allyiah Swiney added a hit and two RBIs.
Amber DeSena drove in three runs with a double and a sacrifice fly.
Florida A&M cut into the lead with four runs in the third, but the Camels answered immediately with five more in the bottom of the frame, highlighted by DeSena's two-run double and an RBI groundout from sophomore
Hannah Cornetto.
Campbell added five more runs in the fourth, aided by a pair of Florida A&M errors, to extend the margin to 15-4 and secure the run-rule win.
GAME #2 – vs. TENNESSEE TECH (W, 11-3)
The Camels jumped out early and never looked back in the nightcap, scoring four runs in the first inning and five more in the second.
Freshman
Katelyn Hubley improved to 2-0 on the season, tossing five innings and allowing three unearned runs on six hits while striking out three.
Sophomore
Emma Slutzah powered the offense with a 3-for-3 performance, driving in three runs and scoring once. Freshman
Kylie Specht earned his first collegiate hit with a triple and two RBIs, while Cornetto added a double and two RBIs. Ford and DeSena each drove in a run, and senior
Charlie Montgomery finished with two hits and an RBI.
Campbell struck first with a four-run opening inning, highlighted by Specht's two-run triple and Slutzah's RBI double. The Camels added five more in the second, using three hits and a Tennessee Tech error to stretch the lead to 9-0.
Cornetto doubled home a run in the third, and Ford's sacrifice fly in the fourth made it 11-0.
Tennessee Tech scored three unearned runs in the fifth, but DeSena's secured a solo double play to close out the victory.

The Camels return to action Sunday afternoon in the final game of the Campbell Stampede, facing Howard at 12:30 p.m.
