BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell capped a perfect weekend at the Campbell Stampede with a 7-3 victory over Howard on Sunday afternoon at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium, improving to 5-0 on the young season.
The Camels broke a scoreless tie in the second inning when freshman
Lexi Kirby delivered a two-run triple to right-center, scoring senior

After Howard plated a run in the top of the third, Campbell responded with a decisive five-run bottom half of the inning. Senior
Allyiah Swiney opened the frame with a single and later scored on a fielding error. Specht followed with an RBI fielder's choice, and Junior
Grace Kealy continued the rally with a three-run homer to left field, extending the lead to 7-1.
Howard added two runs in the top of the seventh inning to close the scoring at 7-3.
Junior
Ryleigh Bennett earned her first start, complete game and win for the Camels in the circle, collecting four strikeouts.
Campbell finished the weekend with 51 runs in five games, collecting 47 hits with four triples and two homers.

The Camels travel to Auburn, Alabama, for the War Eagle Classic. Campbell will face Illinois, Binghamton and host Auburn. The Camels open the tournament against Illinois on Friday, Feb. 13, at 2 p.m., before taking on Auburn at 7 p.m.
