BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Radford used a sixth-inning surge to edge the Campbell softball team 3-2 Wednesday night at Radford Softball Stadium.
Campbell controlled much of the game early. After reaching on a Radford error, senior
Charlie Montgomery advanced to third on a fielder's choice. Sophomore
Hannah Cornetto then forced a throw from the Highlanders, allowing Montgomery to dash home for the game's first run.
The Camels added another run in the third inning when sophomore
Emma Slutzah was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, bringing home one and extending the lead to 2-0.
Radford's defense kept Campbell off the scoreboard the rest of the way. In the bottom of the sixth, the Highlanders capitalized on a throwing error before a two-run home run gave Radford a late lead.
