BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Senior attack
McKenna Duncan set new career highs with five goals and seven points to power the Camels past Radford, 17-8, Wednesday afternoon at Barker-Lane Stadium in Campbell's Education Day game.
Campbell (9-2) tied its longest scoring run of the season with eight consecutive goals from 8:29 in the first to 3:58 in the second quarter, and Duncan scored three-straight to help build CU's lead.
Duncan added two assists to her day to record seven points against the Highlanders, increasing her total to 39 on the year (18 goals, 21 assists), and she's sixth in the CAA in points per game.
Radford (1-7) began the game with a 3-0 run in the first five minutes to force an early timeout by the Camels. CU responded with its 8-0 run before the Highlanders scored the last two goals of the first half.
Cassidy Deierlein led RU with three goals, and Mady Cheney added two.
Caroline Laur and
Emma Jankowiak were the only other Camels in addition to Duncan to score multiple goals. In total, 11 different players for Campbell rippled the back of the net on Wednesday.
The Camels had another big scoring run to end the third quarter and start the fourth, building to their biggest lead at 10 with 6:17 to play.
Adria Welsh started in goal and notched three saves in the first half.
Helen Bartman played the second half between the pipes and recorded four saves.
CU outshot the visitors, 40-20, and put 16 more efforts on goal. The teams were even in draw controls through the first three quarters, but Campbell secured all six in the final frame.
Campbell now sits at nine wins, tied with 2018 for the third most in a season in program history. The team won 12 games in 2023 and had 10 wins in 2016, 2017 and 2022.
