Camels back in Buies Creek to host East Carolina

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – After six games on the road, Campbell is back in Buies Creek to play host to East Carolina Sunday afternoon in its fourth matchup this year against an in-state opponent.

The Fighting Camels earned their seventh consecutive win on Wednesday with a 13-11 victory over Wofford. McKenna Duncan scored two goals and set a new career high with five assists. Caroline Laur scored four goals of her own to pace CU.
 
Series History
ECU holds the advantage in the series, 4-2, and has won the last four contests. The teams last played in 2023.
 
Scouting the Opponents
The Pirates have a 3-2 record and have alternating results in every game so far. They last played on Feb. 28, a 15-7 victory over San Diego State. Four players have scored double-digit goals, and Sarah Goodison, Kayla Wilkes and Katelyn Sclafani have recorded 17 points (11 goals, six assists). ECU was picked third in the AAC Preseason Poll and garnered one first-place vote. Four Pirates were selected to the preseason all-conference team, including Wilkes as Preseason Midfielder of the Year and Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year Jaime Behar.
 
Prominent Defense
Campbell ranks eighth in the NCAA in caused turnovers per game, registering an average of 12.25. Hailey Kohlmann ranks third with 3.38 on her own. She also ranks 12th in the NCAA with 3.38 ground balls per game. Goalkeeper Adria Welsh ranks 18th in the country with 55 saves.
 
Conference Leaders
Campbell leads the CAA in assists per game, caused turnovers per game, ground balls per game, points per game and scoring offense. The team is second in shots/shots on goal per game.
 
CAA Hardware
Hailey Kohlmann is a two-time CAA Defensive Player of the Week. Adria Welsh has one CAA Rookie of the Week honor, and Chole Annibell has received one CAA Offensive Player of the Week nod.
 
Late Game Heroics
Caroline Laur scored two goals in the final three minutes to complete the comeback against High Point.
 
Against Winthrop, Chloe Annibell netted the game winner with 1:20 left on the clock.
 
White's Early Season Hat Tricks
Sophomore Paige White recorded hat tricks in the first two games of the season. She opened the 2026 campaign with four goals against Jacksonville, followed by three goals and three assists against Gardner-Webb.
 
Preseason Accolades
Fifth-year defender Hailey Kohlmann was selected as an honorable mention on the All-CAA Preseason Team. She was first on the team last year with 37 ground balls and fifth in the CAA in ground balls per game.
 
Looking for Difference Makers
The Camels are looking to replace two program greats with the departure of Rasa Welsh and Sam Bischoff. Welsh is third all-time in career assists, and Bischoff is second all-time in career goals. Both players ended their careers top five in career points.
 
Head Coach Dawn Easley
Coach Easley is in the midst of her 13th season at the helm in Buies Creek. She owns a record of 93-114 at Campbell and a 151-145 overall record.
