ELON, N.C. – The Fighting Camels dropped their first conference match of the season, falling to Elon 6-1 Wednesday afternoon at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
Â
Mikolaj Kowal and
Ethan Richardson earned a win on doubles court number three to force a winner-take-all match on court two, but Elon's duo of Oskar Antinheimo and Rafael Ymer won that in a tiebreaker to win the point for the Phoenix.
Â
Elon went on to win the first five singles matches, clinching the team victory on court four, once again off the efforts of Antinheimo.
Â
Campbell's lone victory came by way of
Thomas Drapeau on court one. He bounced back after losing the first set to win a tiebreaker in set two and a super tiebreaker in set three over Veljko Krstic.
