BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Campbell softball team scored in all four innings to deliver a decisive 14-3 run-rule victory over the Hampton Pirates at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium. The Camels offense opened up the contest on fire and never slowed down, collecting 15 hits, including two doubles and a triple.

The Camels struck immediately in the first, rattling off three hits to open the game. Sophomore
Emma Slutzah reached with a leadoff single, and graduate student
Amber DeSena followed with a double to left-center that scored Slutzah. After a sacrifice fly from senior
Charlie Montgomery made it 2-0, senior
Allyiah Swiney came around to score on an RBI double from junior
Madison Ford to cap a three-run frame.
Campbell broke the game open in the second inning, sending nine batters to the plate and scoring five runs. Sophomore
Haley Krebs sparked the rally with a single. Swiney delivered a two-run single to right, and Montgomery followed with a bunt single to keep the pressure on. Freshman
Kylie Specht added an RBI single, and Campbell took advantage of a wild pitch and a throwing error to extend the lead to 8-0.
The Camels added on again in the third. Junior
Livie Davis singled and Krebs walked to set the table for Slutzah, who reached to load the bases. DeSena then cleared them with a triple to deep right field, stretching the lead to 11-0. Montgomery followed with an RBI bunt single to make it 12-0.
The fourth was back to business for the Camels, adding two more runs. Sophomore
Hannah Cornetto and
Livie Davis opened the inning with back-to-back singles, and Slutzah brought home a run with an RBI single. Swiney later added another RBI knock to push the advantage to 14-0.
In the circle, freshman
Katelyn Hubley was dominant early, retiring nine of the first 10 batters she faced and allowing just one hit with three strikeouts over 3.2 shutout innings.
Campbell's offense was paced by DeSena and Swiney. DeSena drove in four runs, including a bases-clearing triple, while Swiney went 3-for-3 with three RBI. Slutzah also reached base four times and scored three runs.
Hampton avoided the shutout in the fifth, scoring three runs before Campbell closed it on a fly out to Montgomery in center field.

Due to incoming weather, Campbell will close its home slate Saturday with a doubleheader to finish its CAA series against Hampton. First pitch is set for 11 a.m. for game one and 2 p.m. for game two, with both games streamed on FloCollege.
The Camels will celebrate their five seniors prior to the second game. Fans can also receive Campbell softball trading cards before the first game. It will also be Kids in the Creek Day, featuring postgame autographs and a chance for kids to run the bases. The weekend is presented by NC Farm Bureau in Lillington.
