WILMINGTON, N.C. – Campbell baseball fell in a heartbreaker to Northeastern, 3-2, in the CAA Tournament Championship on Sunday afternoon at Brooks Field.
The Camels conclude the season with an impressive 41-17 overall record.
After four scoreless innings, the Camels broke through in the fifth as
Mike Murphy lifted a solo shot to right field for an early 1-0 lead. The homer marks the fourth of the season for Murphy.
Jonah Oster added to the lead with an RBI single through the right side to make it 2-0.
Northeastern answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth on a RBI bases loaded fielder's choice making it 2-1. The Huskies tied things up in the sixth on a bases loaded RBI single to make it 2-2.
The Huskies walked off the Camels in the bottom of the ninth stringing together a trio of hits.
The squads collected eight hits apiece and left a combined 21 runners on base. Oster and
Trent Rumley led the offense with two hits each. Campbell combined to use seven pitchers in the game.
