amels secure sweep over NC A&T on Senior Day

BUIES CREEK — Campbell baseball secured the Coastal Athletic Association series sweep over North Carolina A&T on Sunday at Jim Perry Stadium. 

Prior to the contest, the Camels honored 12 seniors including Zac Martin, Jarrett Martin, Caleb White, Connor Hensley, Trent Rumley, Aaron Smigelski, David Rossow, Zach Sabers, Jackson Thompson, Joey Morton, Joe Simpson, and Jonah Oster

After the sweep, the Camels improved to 33-14 overall and 23-4 in conference play. The Aggies fell to 12-34 overall and 3-21 in CAA action. 

Jett Music led off the bottom of the opening frame blasting a solo shot to left center field to make it 1-0. Two batters later, Joey Morton tallied a two-run homer to right field to extend the lead. Carlos Lugo reached base with a triple before scoring on the homer. 

Campbell (33-14, 23-4 CAA) continued to momentum into the second as Jonah Oster tallied a two-RBI base hit to push the lead 5-0. 

NC A&T plated a run in the third and fourth on a solo homer and Campbell miscue, respectively. 

Music and Morton each blasted their second home run of the game in the fourth and seventh, respectively, for the Camels' final three runs of the game. Music registered a solo shot before Morton blasted a two-run home run. 

Zach Sabers earned the start on senior day securing his third win of the season pitching 6.0 innings surrendering two runs on six hits and picking up six strikeouts. 

A trio of Camels tossed the final three innings allowing one hit and combining for six strikeouts. 

Music and Morton each collected two hits and combined for six RBI. Oster went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI.

The Camels travel to take on Charlotte at Hayes Stadium on May 5. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will not be streamed.
