YORKTOWN, IND. – With five golfers among the top 20 individuals, Campbell posted a runner-up finish after Tuesday's final round of the Brittany Kelly Classic, hosted by Ball State at The Players Club at Woodland Trails.
Miah Rivas tied for fifth, while
Fanni Gronlund,
Linn Svedlund,
Jade Potter and
Yukino Kudo tied for 20th in the 91-golfer field as the Camels earned a second-straight runner-up finish to start the 2026-27.
Host Ball State claimed the team title at 6-under par (294-283-281--858). Campbell (299-295-292—886) logged the second-best round of the day to move past Morehead State (297-289-304—890) into second place.
Taylor Larkins of Ball State won the individual title at 2-under 214 (76-68-70). Runner-up Riley Pechinski of Green Bay (68-69-78—215) was the only other competitor to finish in red numbers in the 54-hole event.
After winning last week's Golfweek Fall Challenge, Rivas (70-72-76—218) earned a second-straight top-5 finish to start her career. The freshman from Mexico completed the event tied for fourth in birdies (10), T5th in par-4 scoring (+2) and T6th in par-5 scoring (-2).
Gronlund (77-76-72—225) led the field in par-5 scoring (-4) and finished with seven birdies. Svedlund, a sophomore from Sweden, earned her best collegiate finish (79-74-72—225) and birdied her final hole to finish at even par on the day. She had six birdies over the two-day event and tied for second in par-5 scoring (-3).
Potter (75-77-73—225) tied for 10th with 8 birdies, while Kudo (77-73-75—225) had seven birdies and tied for 9th in scoring on the par-4 holes (+3). Competing as an individual,
Louisa Bloomfield finished T79 (87-79-80—246).
As a team, the Camels finished second in the field with 167 pars and in par-5 scoring (-6), while making 38 birdies (3rd).
The event is named in memory of former Ball State standout Brittany Kelly, who was named the 2022 Indiana PGA Golf Professional of the Year. The first female recipient of the honor, which originated in 1955, Kelly was a three-time All-Mid-American Conference selection and a two-time All-American Scholar during her Cardinals career. After a battle with ovarian cancer, she passed away at the age of 32 on Aug. 31, 2021, just prior to her induction into the Ball State Athletics Hall of Fame.
The Camels return to action Sept. 28-29 in the Tot Hill Farm Invitational, hosted by the College of Charleston at Tot Hill Farm in Asheboro, N.C.
