CARY, N.C. – Senior
Emily Pierce recorded the third-fastest 5K time in program history Friday night as the Campbell cross country teams competed at the Adidas XC Challenge.
Pierce finished 23rd overall with a personal-best 17:27.7 in the Camels' second meet of the season, improving her previous best by nearly 30 seconds. Her time ranks third all time in program history behind
Dorcus Ewoi and Joan Maritim.
The Campbell women finished seventh with 203 points in the 5K, while the men placed ninth with 288 points in the 6K.
MEN'S 6K
Freshman
Ethan Rich led the Camels in his Campbell debut, finishing 65th in 19:44.5.
Sophomore
Jake Knight followed in 67th with a personal-best 19:49.6, while junior
Jackson Price placed 76th in 19:58.4.
Campbell totaled 288 points to finish ninth. Wake Forest won the team title with 25 points, followed by NC State with 62, and Liberty with 110.
WOMEN'S 5K
Pierce led Campbell with a 23rd-place finish and a personal-best 17:27.7, the third-fastest time in program history.
Junior
Emelyn Lacour finished 44th in a personal-best 18:25.0, ranking 14th all time at Campbell. Senior
Megan Cash placed 63rd in 18:53.6, the 18th-fastest time in program history.
Six Camels recorded personal bests, including Pierce and Lacour, while five runners made their collegiate 5K debuts.
Campbell finished seventh with 203 points, placing ahead of in-state opponents UNC Greensboro, UNC Pembroke and East Carolina. NC State won the team title with 21 points, followed by South Carolina with 40.
