ASHEBORO, N.C. –
Fanni Gronlund and
Jade Potter were tied atop the leader board at 5-under par and Campbell held a 9-stroke lead in the team standings when darkness forced play to be suspended late in the second round Monday of the Tot Hill Farm Invitational.
Gronlund opened the day with a bogey-free, career-low 5-under par 67 on the par-72, 6023-yard Mike Strantz design. She was even through 16 holes when play was halted. Potter started the day with a 2-under-par 70 to match her collegiate best 18-hole score, then was 3-under through 16 holes of the second round.
Pinky Chaisilprungruang of Charlotte was third individually at 4-under par (68-72—140).
Freshman
Yukino Kudo added a season-best, 3-under 69 in the opening round and was tied for 10th at even-par with one hole left to play. Sophomore
Linn Svedlund was T15 at 2-over following consecutive 73s. Freshman
Lohaijany Castillo, who was a late addition after the team's top player through two events,
Miah Rivas, was unable to compete due to illness, was 8-over overall with two holes remaining
Campbell shot a 9-under 279 in the opening round – tied for the ninth-lowest 18-hole score in the program's 38-season history. The Camels were even as a team in the second round with four groups remaining on the course.
Host College of Charleston was second on the leader board at even par (282-294—576), while UNCW stood third (293-291—584, +8) in the 12-team field.
