ELON, N.C. – Campbell cross country opened the 2026 season Friday night at the Elon Opener, with the women's team placing fourth. Senior
Emily Pierce and sophomore
Delaney Horton each earned top 10 finishes in the women's 4K.
The women's team totaled 109 points in the 4K, while the men's team recorded 197 points in the 6K for a seventh place finish.
WOMEN'S 4K
The Camels placed four runners in the top 30, led by Pierce, who finished seventh with a time of 14:27.7.
Campbell improved from a sixth place finish at last year's Elon Opener to fourth this season. The Camels finished with 109 points, just three points behind third place Catawba, which totaled 106. The host, Elon, won the event for the third consecutive year with 21 points, followed by Davidson with 93.
Horton followed closely behind Pierce, finishing eighth in 14:34.3. Her time was just two seconds off her personal best.
Juniors
Emelyn Lacour and
Jenna VanRyn rounded out Campbell's top four, finishing 27th and 29th, respectively. Lacour clocked a 15:10.5, while VanRyn recorded a personal-best 15:12.3.

Lily Kelpin each made their Campbell debuts at the event. Cook led the newcomers with a 48th place finish in 15:42.0 in her collegiate debut.
MEN'S 6K
Junior
Craig Costa led the Camels, finishing 40th with a time of 20:29.9.
Freshman
Brayden Ash and
Mario Cantarero followed Costa in 45th and 46th, respectively. Ash recorded a 20:35.5 in his collegiate debut, while Cantarero clocked a 20:39.2.
Campbell totaled 197 points to finish seventh. Catawba won the team title with 66 points, followed by Coastal Carolina with 82, High Point with 87 and Davidson with 102.
