Tyler Robinson completed his eighth season as a member of the Campbell baseball coaching staff. He serves as the pitching coach in his current role.
A member of the Campbell baseball staff since 2014, Robinson assisted former pitching coach Chris Marx as the assistant pitching coach during the 2019 season after spending the 2018 season as a volunteer assistant coach. Robinson spent his first three seasons (2015-17) as the director of baseball operations.
In August of 2018, Robinson was promoted to assistant coach after he spent the 2018 season as a volunteer assistant coach.
Since 2015, Robinson’s first season on staff, the Camels have won 243 games, averaging over 30 per year, with 42 all-conference picks and 16 All-America selections. MLB clubs have drafted nine Campbell players and 10 total players have signed professional contracts during Robinson’s tenure. On August 10, 2018, Cedric Mullins, who was drafted in the 13th round of the 2015 MLB Draft, made his MLB debut with the Baltimore Orioles.

The 2022 pitching staff was prolific, led by starters Thomas Harrington and Cade Kuehler. The duo each struck out 111 batters on the year, setting new program records.

Harrington was tabbed a first-team all-American, Big South Pitcher of the Year, and Golden Spikes Award semifinalist. The sophomore was the only pitcher in the nation to earn 12 wins, going 12-2 with a 2.53 ERA. He turned in 11 quality starts and pitched at least 6.0 innings in every start.

Kuehler came on strong at the end of the season, striking out 10 and issuing only two walks in each of his last four starts. Opponents batted just .184 against the sophomore. Kuehler was named second-team all-Big South.

Ryan Chasse and Ty Cummings also earned all-conference honors picking up six saves each, giving Robinson four pitchers to earn all-Big South recognition in 2022.
In 2021, Robinson helped four Camel pitchers to all-conference selections. RHP Thomas Harrington was named Big South Freshman of the Year and second-team all-conference. Reliever Logan Heintzman was a first-team selection and was also named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year midseason watch list. Ryan Chasse and Kevin Westlake were each second-team selections as well.
The 2019 team saw Robinson coach a pair of pitchers to Big South awards for the second straight season. Senior righty Michael Horrell was voted Big South Pitcher of the Year and lefthander Ryan Chasse was named Freshman of the Year.
Alan Winans was Robinson’s first Big South Pitcher of the year, taking home the league’s top pitching honor in 2018. Logan Bender was tabbed Big South Freshman of the year that same season.
In 2017, Robinson helped lead the Camels to 25 victories and four players picked up all-conference honors. Drew Butler headlined the group as the league’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was a second team selection. Hallum nabbed his second first team selection while Matthew Barefoot and Jeff Hahs joined Butler on the second team.
Following the 2017 campaign, Barefoot was named a Freshman All-American by three different college baseball publications: The NCBWA, Perfect Game and The Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. He became the first Freshman All-American in program history.
Butler finished the season as the co-national leader for stolen bases with 39 swipes. He became the sixth Camel to earn a NCAA statistical championship.
Butler was also named a 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District selection marking the 23rd straight year a Campbell player earned academic all-district status. Butler was a semifinalist for the 2017 Senior CLASS award.
Campbell posted its fourth-straight 30-win season in Robinson’s first year, with five Camels earning All-Big South honors. Cole Hallum was named Third Team All-American and Big South Player of the Year, while Matt Parrish earned his second-consecutive Academic All-America accolade.
A then-record three Camels were selected in the 2015 MLB Draft, including Mullins (13th round, Baltimore Orioles), Steven Leonard (23rd round, Colorado Rockies) and Heath Bowers (24th round, Oakland Athletics).
Three more Camels earned All-Big South honors in 2016, with Parrish, Grant Yost and Anthony Lopez all taking home league awards. Parrish also made history, becoming Campbell’s first three-time CoSIDA Academic All-America selection. Parrish was also the Senior CLASS Award winner.
Robinson came to Campbell from Brunswick Community College, where he served as the Dolphins’ pitching coach and recruiting coordinator.
Prior to BCC, Robinson was a student assistant at Elon, where he graduated in 2013 with a degree in business management. The Durham, N.C., native assisted the Phoenix from 2011-13 in day-to-day operations, primarily with pitching, video coordination and camps. With Robinson on staff, the Phoenix made the Charlottesville NCAA Regional finals in 2013.
He earned his associates degree from Brunswick in 2011, where he pitched for two seasons. Robinson also gained coaching experience at the American Legion level, coaching Durham Post 7 each summer since 2009.
He is married to the former Taelar Errington, who was a Campbell lacrosse standout and former assistant coach. The couple has one son, Rhett.
