Wes Hunt joined the Campbell staff as volunteer assistant baseball coach in August 2020.

"The energy and passion that Coach Hunt has for the game, and for investing in the lives of our student-athletes is going to be a great fit for our program and culture," said Haire. "He is a guy that impressed me with his work ethic, and his hunger for continual improvement. I know that he will prove to be an excellent addition to our program."
Campbell earned its first-ever at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament during Stampler’s first season in 2021 and posted a 37-18 record on the year. Campbell won the Big South regular season title for the third year in a row and reach a regional final for the second straight season, this time at the Starkville Regional. Stampler helped guide nine total players to all-Big South selections while four players accounted for 11 total all-American nods across various publications.

The 2021 squad had one of the nation’s most potent offenses, finishing in the top-10 in seven different statistical categories: HBP (1st), sac flies (1st), doubles (2nd), OBP (3rd), scoring (4th), slugging (5th), and stolen bases (9th).

Hunt comes to Campbell after two seasons as an assistant coach at UT Permian Basin.

Hunt was instrumental as the Falcons returned to form in 2019, winning 20-plus games for the first time since 2015 and clinched a spot in the Lone Star Conference playoffs for the second consecutive season.  The Falcons won their first Lone Star Conference series, their first LSC road series, and won more in conference series than they lost. The Falcons beat powerhouse Tarleton for the first time in program history and split with Texas A&M - Kingsville for the first time.  Four Falcons earned All-Conference postseason honors with the help of Coach Hunt.

Hunt came to UT Permian Basin after two seasons as an assistant at Tarleton State where he graduated with a master's degree in kinesiology.

He worked with the outfielders and was the third base coach with the Texans, helping Tarleton to a No. 12 national ranking and a No. 6 ranking in the South Central Region poll his first season. In 2018, the Texans won the Lone Star Conference Tournament Championship and earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Before beginning his coaching career, Hunt helped lead College of Southern Nevada to a Junior College World Series appearance in 2010. In 2011 at Chipola Junior College, he played in 38 games in helping the Indians win the Florida State championship and advance to the JUCO World Series for his second straight season.

Hunt began coaching as a student at UNLV, where he graduated with his undergraduate degree in 2014. In four seasons at UNLV, three as an undergraduate assistant from 2011-14 and one as a volunteer assistant from 2014-15, he worked with the outfielders and was the Rebels' camp director. UNLV won the Mountain West Conference Championship and finished third in the NCAA Regional in Corvallis, Ore.

Before joining Tarleton, he spent one season as a coach at Ranger College in 2015-16.
