Matt Rodriguez is Campbell’s Associate Director of Strength & Conditioning and Head of Baseball Sports Performance, responsible for the yearly strength and conditioning of Campbell’s baseball team and the throwers for track & field.
 
Rodriguez came to Buies Creek as Assistant Director of Strength & Conditioning in May of 2018 after serving as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn., from 2016-18. At SHU, he supported the baseball, women’s rugby, track and field throwers, bowling, equestrian and cheerleading teams. He also assisted with football and men’s basketball.

He was elevated to Associate Director of Strength & Conditioning and Head of Baseball Sports Performance in July 2020.

In 2018, Rodriguez graduated from SHU with a master’s of science in exercise science and nutrition.
 
Prior to Sacred Heart, Rodriguez served as a strength and conditioning intern at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. While there, he instructed and corrected exercise techniques of athletes from Penn’s 31 varsity sports teams, including the Ivy League Championship football team. He was also responsible for the women’s swimming and diving teams.
 
Rodriguez graduated from Montclair State University in 2016 with a B.S. in exercise science. As a Red Hawk, he competed as an infielder for the Montclair State baseball team.
 
A native of Cinnaminson, N.J., Rodriguez is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, a Functional Range Conditioning (FRC) Movement Specialist, as well as OnBaseU Level 1 Pitching Certified. In addition, he holds Level 1 Reflexive Performance Reset (RPR) certification, CPR/AED and First Aid certification from the American Red Cross.
 
When he is not guiding the Fighting Camels on the field or in the weight room, Rodriguez weightlifts competitively and has earned several first place finishes.
