A former four year letterwinner with the Camels, Hunter Somerville begins his fourth year on the Campbell football coaching staff in 2019, serving as special teams coordinator, as well as an offensive assistant.

Somerville added special teams coordinator to his role following the Camels' record-setting 2018 season, securing back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in the program's modern era (since 2008), and tied an overall program record for victories.

Also working with Campbell’s linebackers and special teams from 2016-17, Somerville headed the team’s video coordination operation in 2016 before transitioning to quarterbacks.
 
Somerville lettered as a tight end and defensive end for the Camels from 2011-15, earning First Team Academic All-PFL and CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 honors in 2013 and 2014.

He played in every Campbell game from 2011-15 before being sidelined by injury in Game 2 of the 2015 season. Following his season ending injury, Somerville served as an offensive and special teams assistant for Campbell.
 
A three-time PFL Academic Honor Roll member, Somerville was named one of 135 national semifinalists for the 2015 William V. Campbell Trophy, presented by the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame. He was also a member of the NFF’s Hampshire Honor Society.
 
The Winston-Salem, N.C. native completed his MBA at CU in 2016 after graduating from Campbell with a degree in criminal justice administration in 2015.
