Justin Wakefield joined the staff in April 2026 as Director of Player Development and Analytics.
Wakefield has been in coaching for more than a decade, ranging from a head coach at the high school level, a collegiate assistant, and a player development specialist.
Wakefield most recently worked as lead director of player development at the DL6 Sportsplex, in Piedmont, SC. He organized group sessions, camps, and clinics, led summer day camps, and created engaging basketball breakdowns through Instagram videos.
His college experience featured working as a player development coach at North Alabama from 2022-23, helping that team to an 18-15, 10-8 record.
Wakefield has organized offseason workouts for college and professional players since 2013, and recently helped with pre-draft workouts alongside NBA Trainer Rob Allen beginning in 2022. His workout programs have helped athletes secure scholarships to SMU, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee.
Wakefield is a two-time high school state champion coach, one in Tennessee at just 24 years old with Maryville Christian, and another with Dorman High School in South Carolina.
The Knoxville, Tenn. native began his coaching journey as a student assistant at Tennessee Tech from 2011-14.
