Jamie Hiegel is in his fifth year as Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning at Campbell in 2022-23 and brings two decades of experience on the collegiate, professional and amateur level to the job.

At Campbell, Hiegel is responsible for designing, monitoring and implementing the strength and conditioning programs for the men’s basketball and volleyball teams.

Before joining the Fighting Camel staff, Hiegel served nine years as the Director of Strength and Conditioning at Long Beach State. While at Long Beach State, Hiegel worked directly with the men’s and women’s basketball teams while overseeing all nineteen 49ers men’s and women’s Olympic sport teams.

He also served as Head Strength and Conditioning of the USA Water Polo Senior National Team leading up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games prior to his arrival at Campbell University.

Prior to his tenure at Long Beach State, Hiegel served as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Olympic sports at Temple University for four years where he helped three teams win conference championships in men's basketball (2007-08, 2008-09) and women's basketball (2005-06).

His well-rounded coaching experience in amateur and professional athletics also included stops with the Kansas City Royals Organization (2005), San Jose State University (2003-05), the Oakland Raiders (2003), and Stanford University (2001-02).

Hiegel completed his undergraduate work at San Jose State University in 2002, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Performance/Kinesiology with a Nutrition minor and completed his Master's of Education degree in Sport and Recreation Administration at Temple in 2010.

Hiegel holds certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach with Distinction (RSCC*D), United States Weightlifting (USAW) as a Level 1 Club Coach and USA Track and Field as a Level 1 Coach.
