Juan Perez

Juan Perez joined the Fighting Camel staff in 2022 as a strength and conditioning coach for men’s basketball and women’s volleyball. Previously, Perez worked at a private basketball facility, where he was Director of Performance, working with high school and professional basketball players.
 
Prior to his private sector experience, Perez worked at Joint Base Lewis-McChord with the U.S. Army infantry battalion, and he has also previously served as an EXOS performance coach.
 
Before going tactical, Perez spent three years at Appalachian State University where he worked with the men’s and women’s basketball programs, while also assisting with the training and periodization for men’s golf and women’s tennis. During his tenure at Appalachian, he also assisted the director of sports performance with the installation and design of the current basketball weight room and led the sports science initiative.
 
Additionally, Perez has spent time as a sports performance intern at the University of Washington, University of Portland, and Western Washington University, where he worked primarily with the men’s and women’s basketball programs.
 
Perez received his Master’s in exercise science from Appalachian State in 2018, and his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Western Washington University in 2016. He is happily married to his loving wife Ayla Perez.
