Head coach Ronny Fisher has announced the addition of one of his former players, Sherece Smith, to his staff in December of 2019. Smith serves as the Director of Player Personnel and Video Operations for the Camels. Smith is entering her third season with the Camels ahead of the 2021-22 season.
“I am excited to be joining the Campbell family and am ready for the opportunity to learn and grow as a professional under Coach Fisher,” said Smith. “After playing for him at Presbyterian and following their past few seasons, I know Coach Fisher and his staff are working to make Campbell women’s basketball an elite program. I am grateful and thrilled for the chance to be a part of it.”
In her first season, Smith helped the Camels to a 21-8 record overall and 16-4 conference record en route to a Big South regular season championship.
During her second season, she assisted the Camels to a 16-7 record overall and a 11-4 record in Big South play. The Camels finished second in the regular season standings and a runner-up finish in the Big South tournament.
Smith played for coach Fisher at Presbyterian from 2010-14 where she obtained her degree in Elementary Education before later earning her Master’s Degree in Counselor Education (2016-18). For the 2013-14 season, the Clemson, S.C. native tabbed Big South All-Academic Team honors when she posted a 3.97 GPA.
We are thrilled to add Sherece to our women’s basketball staff at Campbell University,” said fourth year head coach Ronny Fisher. “Sherece enjoyed a tremendous basketball career at Presbyterian College where I had the privilege of coaching her for four years. She displayed strong leadership qualities as a player and I have always admired her strong work ethic and passion to be the best. Sherece will be a wonderful influence in the lives of our student-athletes and we are blessed to have her join our staff.”
Smith comes to Campbell after her work as an Educational Advisor at the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation where she advised high achieving high school students prepare and apply to highly selective colleges and universities.
Following obtaining her master’s degree from Clemson, Smith worked at Long Island University-Brooklyn where she served as an academic advisor working mainly with pre-pharmacy students.
