LEXINGTON, VA. - VMI made two first-half
goals stand up in a 2-1 men's soccer victory over visiting Campbell
Saturday afternoon.
Charles Nweke put the Keydets (2-4) in front just 46 seconds into
the contest with his fifth goal of the year. Edward Mills then
added his first strike off a rebound in the 34th minute as VMI
claimed its second one-goal victory over the Camels in as many
seasons.
Julian Fulton brought the Camels within one in the 87th minute, but
CU (2-4) was unable to equalize and suffered its fourth-consecutive
loss after opening the year with two victories.
Campbell held an 18-14 advantage in
shots, but only four of CU's attempts were on goal. VMI keeper
Thomas Upton had two saves, while Campbell's Aaron Johnson made
four stops.
The Camels are 0-4 away from the Eakes Athletic Complex this year,
but return home for their next match on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. vs.
High Point.
