BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Chad Martin and Luke Alicknavitch limited Campbell to two hits as Delaware clipped Campbell 6-2 Sunday in the CU Invitational finale.

After falling 9-2 to Campbell and 7-2 to Manhattan on Saturday, Delaware (3-4) jumped on the board with four in the first inning against the Camels (6-2), sending nine to the plate and chasing starter Matt Nadolski (0-1). Nadolski fanned two with a walk and four runs, with one coming earned in the loss.

The Blue Hens added another in the second on Norm Donkin's solo home run to left, taking a 5-0 lead.

Campbell broke through in the bottom of the third, with Sam Rector scoring after Aaron Vogt was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. John Reilly then came around on Kyle Leady's double play ball, to make it 6-2 Delaware.

Zach Lopes' sacrifice fly in the fifth extended the Blue Hen lead to 6-2, giving the game its final tally.

Delaware starter Chad Martin (1-0) picked up the win, pitching seven innings of one hit ball with two runs, a strikeout and two walks. Alicknavitch earned his second save of the day, working the game's final two innings, allowing a hit with three punchouts.

CU reliever Ryan Thompson entered the game with two away in the seventh and allowed just one hit, striking out four. Coley Thompkins and Bobby Thorson each allowed a run on three hits in relief, combining to pitch six innings.

Donkin paced Delaware at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored, while Jake Clark knocked in two on a 2-for-4 day.

Campbell opened the tournament with two wins over Manhattan, 12-2 and 7-4, and Delaware, 9-2, before Sunday's loss.

The Camels return to action Wednesday in Cary, N.C., taking on Missouri at the USA Baseball Training Complex. CU gets back to tournament play next weekend, hosting the Campbell Classic, featuring Army and Towson.
