BUIES CREEK — Campbell baseball dropped its midweek matchup against UNC Greensboro, 11-4, on Tuesday night at Jim Perry Stadium.
Campbell falls to 21-11 on the season while UNCG moves to 14-18.
UNCG (14-18) scored in the opening frame to take an early 1-0 lead on an RBI double.
Campbell (21-11) would answer in the bottom of the second frame with a pair of runs to take the lead, 2-0.
Andrew Keller and
Elijah Clayton drew back-to-back base hits to give the Camels the lead.
The Camels would extend their lead in the third as Keller registered his second RBI of the game on a sacrifice fly to score
Trent Rumley who led off the inning with a single.
The Spartans would go on to score 10 unanswered runs in the final five innings to make it 11-3 heading into the bottom of the ninth. The Camels tallied a season high four costly errors.
With two outs and a pair of runners on in the bottom of the ninth, the Camels looked to cut into the deficit with a run as
Jackson Thompson's RBI single plated a run but a fly out ended the game.
Jonah Oster, Thompson, and Clayton each registered a pair of hits to lead the offense. Keller led the team with 2 RBI.
Zach Sabers (0-2) suffered the loss pitching 2.2 innings allowing four runs on three hits and picked up four strikeouts.
Caleb White earned the start going 4.0 innings and scattered two runs on three hits with four strikeouts.
