LYNCHBURG, VA. – Liberty posted a 10-run fourth inning and defeated visiting Campbell 17-1 Friday in the Big South opener for both teams.
Liberty improved to 13-6 overall with its seventh win in a row, while Campbell fell to 13-6.
Nick Lacik went 4-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored for the Flames, who gathered 18 hits on the day. Dylan Allen also recorded a 3-for-3 showing with three RBI and three runs scored. Ryan Seiz homered and knocked in four, scoring twice.
Trey Lambert (4-1) earned the win on the mound, allowing two hits with three strikeouts in six innings. Caleb Evans and Matt Pennington also pitched scoreless frames. Cody Albright was charged with a run on two hits in an inning.
Campbell's Heath Bowers (4-1) took his first loss since his final start of his freshman campaign, carrying a career 15-1 record into Friday's outing. The junior surrendered 10 runs on 13 hit with five punchouts.
Travis Long pitched four innings, striking out four with a pair of runs on three hits.
Danny Pardo went 2-for-4 for the Camels, while Kyle Leady roped a double and Aaron Vogt knocked in a run in the loss.
The series continues tomorrow with a 2 p.m. start at Liberty Baseball Stadium. The Camels return home Tuesday, hosting Iona in a two-game midweek set.
