BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell carried No. 25 North Carolina State to extra innings before the Wolfpack plated seven runs in the top of the 12th to take a 9-2 win Tuesday night in front of a record Jim Perry Stadium crowd.

A standing room only crowd of 1,082, a record for the 2013-built ballpark, saw NC State (16-11) and Campbell (19-10) dual in the midweek bout. The extra inning loss marked Campbell's first of the season, who had previously defeated Liberty (6-5, 13 innings) and Longwood (4-1, 10 innings).

Tied at 2-2 since the seventh inning, Campbell's leadoff man singled in the ninth and the 11th without a run, while NC State left the bases loaded in the 10th to keep the game knotted heading to the 12th.

Trea Turner walked to lead off the inning, and a CU error followed by an intentional walk gave loaded the bases with no one out. After a pair of wild pitches scored two, Andrew Knizner singled and Jake Fincher walked to plate two more before Turner's bases-clearing triple made it 9-2. The Wolfpack recorded two hits in the inning and walked five times in the rally.

The flurry came after Camel hurlers put up seven zeros, including 3 1/3 from Ryan Thompson, who struck out two with two walks and two hits in his 18th appearance, stretching his scoreless streak to 21 1/3 innings.

Ryan Koopman pitched six innings with two runs on six hits, striking out four and walking one. Heath Bowers followed with a scoreless 2/3 of a frame in his first relief appearance of the season.

Coley Thompkins (2-1), charged with the loss, blanked the Wolfpack in the 11th before exiting in the 12th, and totaled three runs, two earned, on a hit with a strikeout and two walks.

Eric Peterson (2-2) earned the win for the Wolfpack, pitching five scoreless with four hits, a strikeout and a walk.

NCSU starter Patrick Peterson allowed six hits in 5 1/3, striking out three.

After the Wolfpack's first seven were retired, a walk to Preston Palmeiro in the third gave NC State its first baserunner, who scored on a triple from Jake Fincher, its first hit.

Logan Ratledge then homered to lead off the fourth, making it 2-0 Wolfpack.

Clayton Brown led off the seventh with a hit by pitch, and with one out, John Reilly's infield single put two on for the Camels. The hit extended Reilly's hit streak to a career and Campbell season-best nine games.

Danny Pardo followed with a single to right-center to give CU its first run. Steven Leonard followed with a squeeze bunt, scoring Reilly from third to tie up the game at 2-all.

Fincher led four members of the Wolfpack with two hits, also driving in two runs, while Turner knocked in three and Ratledge scored twice.

Matt Nadolski, Clayton Brown, Sam Rector and John Reilly also collected two hits on the night for the Camels.

Campbell heads to Elon tomorrow, taking on the Phoenix at 6:30 p.m. The Camels return to Jim Perry Stadium to host Presbyterian on ESPN3 Friday at 7 p.m. in the first of a three game Big South series. The set will wrap an eight games in eight days stretch for CU.
