BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell will be the No. 3 seed, taking on No. 6 Coastal Carolina Tuesday in the opening round of the Big South Championships in Rock Hill, S.C.
The Big South Championships begin Tuesday, May 20 in Rock Hill, S.C., hosted by Winthrop University, running through Saturday, May 24.
Campbell will take on the Chanticleers, who wrapped up the regular season with a split Friday and Saturday on Tuesday in game two of the tournament. Game two will follow 45 minutes after the conclusion of No. 2 Winthrop vs. No. 7 Charleston Southern.
The Camels secured the No. 3 seed in the Big South's tournament, and the runner-up position in the North Division standings behind No. 1 seed Liberty, going 35-18 on the year and 18-8 in conference play.
The No. 2 seed went to the South Division winner, Winthrop, who went 14-13 in league play this season.
For the third-straight season, the Camels will enter the Big South Tournament with one of the league's top two records. Campbell was the top overall seed last year after going 19-5 in the regular season, and finished second in the Big South with a 15-9 mark in 2012.
Campbell is 52-22 (.703) in Big South Conference games since rejoining the league prior to the 2012 season. The Camels reached the 2013 championship game, going 3-1 in the tournament, and went 1-2 in 2012.
Liberty finished the season with a 23-3 Big South record.
Winthrop won the Big South's South Division Championship to earn the No. 2 seed in the Big South Championship. The Eagles finished the season with a 14-13 Big South record. Campbell earned the No. 3 seed with an 18-8 record in league play and High Point finished at No. 4 with an 18-9 conference mark.
Radford will be the No. 5 seed as it finished the Big South season with a 17-10 record. Coastal Carolina garnered the sixth seed as it completed league play with a 13-13 record. Charleston Southern's 12-14 record was good for the No. 7 seed and Gardner-Webb rounds out the seeding with an 11-15 conference mark.
The 2014 Big South Baseball Championship features the top eight teams in the league regardless of Division and will be played on the campus of Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C. The tournament begins on Tuesday, May 20 and ends with the Championship game on May 24. The tournament will air on the Big South Network, with the semifinals and the winner-take-all championship game airing exclusively on ESPN3. The Big South's Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Baseball Championship.
