Durham, NC - Lea Cutura and
Pauline Roustan went undefeated in singles play as Campbell closed out the NCCU Invitational with a 9-3 singles, 3-1 doubles mark at October 19-20.
Four Fighting Camels players also competed in the ITA Carolina Regional over the weekend.
At the NCCU Invitational, Cutura posted a perfect 3-0 record in singles play to win the gray flight. The junior posted a 6-3, 6-1 win over North Carolina A&T's Nadia Hilton-Adams in the quarterfinals before posting back to back wins over opponents from UNC-Charlotte including a 6-3, 6-3 win in the finals against Gabriela Gonzalez.
Roustan also posted an unblemished mark on the weekend and advanced to the championship of the white flight. Roustan was scheduled to play teammate
Huda McGraw, in the championship game, but the draw was eliminated due to the two players being teammates.
Georgina Segarra,
Alexandra Nicoara, and McGraw all posted 1-1 singles records on the weekend.
In doubles action, Cutura and Regen claimed the Durham Flight along with an extra consolation match against NC A&T to finish with a perfect 3-0 record.
At the ITA Carolina Regional,
Lou Regen advanced out of the qualifying rounds by knocking off Charlotte's Pierina Imparato 6-2, 6-3 and UNC's Maggie Kane 6-1, 6-1. Regen then fell to NC State's Claudia Wiktorin 6-2, 6-1 in the main draw.
Ana Castillo knocked of Gardner-Webb's Mijana Ristic 6-2, 6-1 in the first round of qualifiers before a loss to South Carolina's Rachel Rohrbacher 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
