Garcia named Player of the Week

BUIES CREEK - Mollie Garcia earned CAA Singles Player of the Week following a 3-0 week with two CAA wins.

The sophomore helped the Camels to a 2-1 week with CAA victories over Stony Brook and Hofstra, before a close loss at ECU.

Garcia opened the week with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Stony Brook's Mia Palladino, and followed with a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Hofstra's Aida Oviedo. She capped her week by downing ECU's Ivona Savekona, 6-3, 6-3. Garcia was also 2-1 at No. 3 doubles.

Garcia is the first Camel to nab a weekly award this season.

The Camels are back in action Saturday at UNC Asheville, with action beginning at 1 p.m.
