COLLEGE PARK, MD.  – Campbell topped George Mason 32-6 and fell to Maryland on a tie-breaker, 20-19, Sunday at the XFINITY Center.

Campbell cruised to a 32-6 win over George Mason to open the day. The Camels claimed 9-of-10 individual matches for the team victory that included two major decisions and a technical fall.

After Korbin Meink led off with a 6-4 decision at 125, Nathan Boston took a 15-5 major decision over Jose Tapia at 133. Two more wins by Benjamin Barton and Austin Kraisser were followed by a Quentin Perez tech fall, 20-3, over Brendan May, building the Campbell lead to 18-6.

CU closed the match with four more wins, including a 15-4 major decision for Andrew Morgan at 174.

Taking on the host Terrapins in their second bout of the day, Campbell trailed 12-8 after Kyle Cochran's 6-1 decision over Austin Kraisser at 157. Perez answered with a tech fall, 18-3, at 165 to give Campbell a 13-12 lead with four matches remaining.

Morgan stayed perfect on the year with a 6-4 decision at 174, putting CU in front 16-12.

After Maryland's Jaron Smith tied it up with a major decision win at 184, Austin McNeill returned the lead back to Campbell with a 6-2 decision over Niko Cappello, making it 19-16 Camels with one match remaining.

Youssif Hemida's 5-2 decision at heavyweight ended the match with a 19-19 knot, but Brandon Cray's pin at 125 gave Maryland the 20-19 victory via tie-breaker.

Campbell heads to the Navy Classic on November 18, then North Carolina State for the Wolfpack Open on November 19. The Camels will return to Buies Creek on January 18, hosting SoCon rival Appalachian State.
