DURHAM, N.C. – Double-doubles from
Summer Price and
Lauren McNamara-Clement lifted Campbell to a 58-51 victory over NC Central on Thursday afternoon inside McDougald-McLendon Arena.
Price posted her fourth 20-point performance of the year, knocking down 21 points on 8-of-15 scoring along with a season-high 12 rebounds. McNamara-Clement posted 13 points along with a career-best 12 rebounds.
Tatyana Carver added 14 points for the Camels (7-3), including a 4-of-9 mark from beyond the arc.
NC Central (2-10) was led by Paulina Afriyie's double-double, as she posted 16 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Kieche White also scored in double figures for the home side, notching 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.
Rodneysha Martin, the Eagles' leading scorer at 14.2 points per game, was held to just seven points on 1-of-16 shooting and 5-of-7 from the line.
Trailing by a basket early in the first quarter at 6-4, Campbell went on a 10-0 run in a 6:13 span to take an eight-point lead at 14-6. Five different scorers paced the Camels during the stretch, including McNamara-Clement, Price,

MaKala Rouse and
Kyra Davis
The Camels, which led for 36:24 in Thursday's contest, were on top throughout the entire second quarter, despite NCCU closing the gap to four with 2:44 left. McNamara-Clement had 10 points and Price recorded eight points and nine rebounds at the intermission.
With a six-point lead after the third quarter, CU started the fourth quarter with a trio of 3-pointers from Price and Carver. The three 3's kick-started a 16-0 run over a five minute stretch to push CU to its largest lead of 22 points, at 58-36.
Price's eight points and Carver's five led Campbell's fourth quarter run.
Caroline Bowns snagged four rebounds and Hampton grabbed three during the stretch.
The Eagles responded with multiple 3-pointers on a 15-0 run over the final 3:24 to close the gap to seven, 58-51, as the final buzzer went off. White posted six points during the stretch, with Jada Blow and Sam Oliver-Alexander knocking down a 3-pointer each.
Campbell held a 24-18 advantage in points in the paint and a slight 18-16 edge in points off turnovers.
As a team, Campbell was 7-of-24 (29.2 percent) from downtown, its highest output from long range in four games. On the defensive end, CU held NCCU to 17-of-67 (25.4 percent) from the floor, the lowest output for an opponent in six games.
Campbell returns to action on Dec. 29 in Washington, D.C., at Howard with tip-off set for 5 p.m.
