No. 3 Tar Heels down Camels 7-1

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Logan Warmoth knocked in three and No. 3 North Carolina topped Campbell 7-1 Wednesday at Boshamer Stadium.

The Tar Heels moved to 32-9 on the season, while Campbell fell to 19-23, dropping its first nonconference road test since March 8.

Rodney Hutchinson Jr. (5-3) earned the win for the Tar Heels, working two scoreless innings with a hit, two strikeouts and a walk. Jason Morgan went three innings in the start, allowing a hit with a strikeout and a walk.

Andrew Witczak (2-4) was charged with the loss, allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits with four walks in four innings.

After Campbell stranded runners at second and third in the first, UNC scored the game's first run on a Camel error in the bottom of the inning.

The score remained 1-0 Tar Heels until Logan Warmoth's two-run double in the fifth. North Carolina added two in the sixth and seventh to go ahead 7-0.

Zach Minnick put Campbell on the board in the top of the ninth, doubling in Jeff Hahs with two out.

Warmoth went 3-for-5 with three doubles and three RBI, also doubling in a run in the sixth inning. Zack Gahagan added a 2-for-4 night for the Tar Heels, driving in two and scoring a run. Brian Miller also scored twice.

Minnick went 1-for-4 with the ninth inning RBI double for the Camels. Hahs was 1-for-3.

The Camels will break until May 2 for final exams, returning to action at Jim Perry Stadium, hosting Virginia Tech.
