Longwood ends Camel win streak 76-62

Clemons scores 28, Eudy 13 in loss

FARMVILLE, VA. – Isaiah Walton and B.K. Ashe combined for 52 points to lead Longwood to a 76-62 win over Campbell Monday night at Willett Hall.

Walton scored 27 points, including 14-of-16 from the line, while Ashe added 25, plus 11 rebounds for the Lancers (6-13, 3-3 Big South), who won their second-straight and third in the last four games.

Chris Clemons tallied 28 points and Andrew Eudy 13 for the Camels (9-9, 3-3), who were held to season-low shooting (33.9) and scoring totals and saw their 3-game win streak halted.

Longwood shot 40.6 percent from the floor, made 6-of-18 threes, and 18-of-25 (.720) from the line and held a 10-0 advantage in second-chance points.

Campbell finished 20-of-59 from the field, 5-of-29 (.172) from 3-point range, and 17-of-19 (.895) from the stripe.  Longwood held a 45-36 edge on the glass.

The nation's sixth-leading scorer, Clemons extended his NCAA Division I-leading double-figure streak to 66 games and tied Jonathan Rodriguez (2006-10) for the school record with his 48th game of 20 or more points. Clemons made 11-of-12 from the line and dealt four assists with three steals.

Eudy canned 6-of-10 shots and the Big South's leading shot blocker (1.9) finished with four rejections.

Clemons and Eudy scored 5 points each and the Camels jumped to a 10-0 lead in the first 3:47 of play while Longwood missed its first seven shots.

However, the Lancers answered and used a 9-2 flurry to take their largest lead (31-25) when Walton made a pair from the line with 37 seconds left in the opening half.

Longwood led 31-27 at the break, thanks in part to a 7-0 edge in second-chance points.  The Lancers extended their lead to as many as 16 in the final stanza.  Campbell twice cut the gap to nine, but could draw no closer.

The 14-point margin of defeat was only the second time the Camels dropped a double-figure decision this year and the first since the Nov. 10 opener at Penn State (86-75).

The Camels start a two-game home stretch Thursday at 7 p.m. against Charleston Southern.
