LYNCHBURG, Va. – Keyen Green scored 30 points to lead Liberty to a 60-42 win over Campbell on Saturday evening inside the Vines Center.
Green was 86 percent from the floor (12-14) and 6-of-8 from the line to lead all scorers in the contest. Bridgette Rettstatt added seven points off the bench for Liberty (10-8, 5-1).
Ashlyn Hampton scored 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting (62.5 percent) to lead Campbell's (9-8, 2-4) offense on Saturday. Eight others scored in the contest for CU, which has lost three in a row.
Campbell only led once in the second half, 29-27, before Liberty jumped out to a six-point lead following the third quarter led by Green's eight points.
With a three-point scoreline, 40-37, the Flames used a 20-2 run over a six-minute stretch to reach their largest lead of the night at 60-39. Green scored 10 of her 30 points during that stretch for Liberty.
Campbell shot 42 percent (8-19) in the first half and led by as many as seven, but neither side found a breakthrough as they were deadlocked at 27-27 through 20 minutes of play.
CU trailed by one, 17-16, early in the second quarter, but a 3-pointer from
Caroline Bowns sparked a 10-2 run as CU posted its largest lead at 26-19. The home side responded with an 8-1 run to end the second quarter.
Green led all scorers with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting, while Hampton led CU with seven points on a perfect 3-of-3 from the floor in the half.
Campbell shot 31.8 percent (14-44) in the contest, while Liberty scored 42.3 percent (22-52) from the floor. The Flames held the advantage on the glass, 40-26, and outscored CU in the paint, 38-14.
Campbell heads to Boiling Springs, N.C., for a 7 p.m. contest at Gardner-Webb on Tuesday.
