Camels complete comeback over Lancers

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell erased a 16-point first half deficit and claimed a 58-48 victory over Longwood on Saturday afternoon inside Gore Arena.
 
Summer Price led all scorers with 21 points on 7-of-17 shooting from the floor. Lauren McNamara-Clement had eight points and seven rebounds and MaKala Rouse added nine points with six rebounds for Campbell (11-8, 4-4).
 
Longwood (3-16, 1-7), which led for 28:48 in the contest, was anchored by Kate Spradlin's 14 points on 4-of-5 shooting, including a perfect 3-of-3 from long range.
 
The Camels used a 22-7 run in the second half to flip the 10-point halftime deficit into a seven-point lead midway through the fourth quarter.
 
Campbell evened the score three different times in the third quarter, outscoring the Lancers, 16-6, in that span. CU duplicated its third quarter performance in the fourth, bettering the visitors by 10, 22-12.
 
Price led the way in the second half, scoring 18 points on 6-of-14 (43 percent) shooting. Rouse scored six points and grabbed three rebounds and McNamara-Clement added eight.
 
Longwood opened the first quarter on a 12-0 run and led by as many as 16 in the first half. Spradlin had seven points at the half, while three other Lancers had six each.
 
Campbell was held without a field goal in the opening quarter (0-13), scoring just five points on 5-of-6 (83 percent) from the line. CU closed the gap to eight late in the half, 28-20, before Longwood pushed it back to double digits heading into the half.
 
Kyra Davis led Campbell with five points in the first half, as Hayley Barber and Rouse combined for seven of the team's 14 rebounds.
 
Campbell outscored Longwood in the paint, 22-12, and turned 17 Lancer turnovers into 18 points. CU limited its turnovers to under ten for just the third time this season, committing nine on Saturday.
 
Campbell returns home on Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Radford.
