RICHMOND, Va. - Dustin Werner went undefeated in singles play and claimed his flight as Campbell continued its fall season October 5-7 at the Richmond Invitational.
Werner's perfect play in singles action began with a 6-3, 6-4 win over James Madison's Paul Mendoza and a 6-3, 6-4 victory over College of Charleston's Andre Limon before taking down Virginia's William Woodall in the semifinal's 6-3, 5-7, 7-6. The German then took down familiar foe Amadeo Blasco of Longwood 6-4, 6-4 to claim the top flight.
Three other Camels also closed out the weekend with winning records including
Bastien Huon who finished with a 5-2 overall mark including a 4-1 ledger in singles action. After dropping his opening matchup, Huon won three-straight to claim the consolation side of his bracket. The junior from Redene, France also paired with
Ondrej Labik for two wins to open up their flight before falling in the championship matchup.
Fernando Clemente finished the weekend with a 4-2 overall record after going 2-1 in both singles and doubles play.
Raphael Calzi closed out the Camels success with a 4-3 mark and finished fifth in his singles flight behind a 3-1 record.
Campbell continues its fall season this weekend, October 11-14, at the ITA Regional in Carolina in Cary, N.C.
