Campbell (0-3) is coming off matchups with two nationally ranked opponents in less than a week, falling on the road at No. 18 Duke and at No. 25 Virginia Tech.
The Camels trailed by just two at the half against the Hokies, 7-5, but 10 second half goals, including five from Emma Crooks pushed VT past Campbell 17-8.
Melissa Placek paced Campbell with her first hat trick of the season, adding two caused turnovers and a ground ball. Placek, a junior, owns five goals on the season, tying for the team lead with senior
Mackenzie Koeller.
Koeller has added an assist, while
Kayla Reilly also owns six points, coming on three goals and three helpers.
Megan Reilly has led the Camels on the defensive side, collecting 11 ground balls to go along with eight caused turnovers.
ECU (1-3) is coming off a 15-4 setback to Liberty. Nicole Legar leads the Pirates with seven goals, while Casey Sullivan owns nine points with six goals and three assists.
Next up, Campbell will welcome former Big South rival Coastal Carolina to Buies Creek on Wednesday, February 28. The Camels will then head on the road to Butler and Cincinnati.
