HIGH POINT, N.C. – Jahaad Proctor scored all 20 of his points in the second half – including 12 in a decisive 22-5 run – to lead High Point to a 67-56 win over Campbell Saturday at the Millis Athletic Center.
Chris Clemons scored 26 points for Campbell (12-12, 6-6), which dropped its third-straight.
Cory Gensler added 8 for the Camels, who shot just 37 percent from the floor and made just 6-of-23 threes.
Andre Fox added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Panthers (11-12, 6-6), who shot 54 percent in the second half and finished with a 19-6 edge in points off turnovers.
Last month, Clemons hit a buzzer-beating three to give the Camels a 65-64 win over High Point in Buies Creek. However, on Saturday night, the Panthers held the Big South's most accurate shooting team 12 percentage points below their season mark (.486).
Clemons' three capped a 10-0 burst and gave the Camels a 34-32 lead with 14:34 to play. However, Proctor scored in transition; then hit a pullup jumper from the free throw line to start the burst. Back-to-back pullup threes by Proctor pushed the Panther margin to double digits and High Point led by as many as 15 down the stretch.
Marcus' Burk's tip-in trimmed the gap to 60-52 with 50 seconds to play, but the Camels drew no closer.
High Point closed the opening half on a 9-0 run and took a 24-22 lead into the dressing room when Jamal Wright scored on a layup just before the final buzzer sounded.
Campbell took the lead with a 10-2 run midway through the opening period and pushed the gap to 22-15 when
Marcus Burk scored on a reverse layup with 3:59 to play. However, the Camels committed five turnovers on their last five possessions of the period.
Clemons had 14 first-half points and stretched his NCAA Division I-leading double-figure scoring streak to 72 games. His backdoor layup at the 18:26 mark of the opening half moved Clemons by Sam Staggers (1947 points from 1973-77) into second place on Campbell's all-time scoring list.
In 87 career games, Clemons has scored 1973 points and trails only Jonathan Rodriguez, who set the school record with 2153 points in his career that stretched from 2006-10.
Campbell returns to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. tip-off at Gardner-Webb.
