HIGH POINT, N.C. – Campbell closed the game on an 8-0 run and defeated High Point 51-44 in Big South women's basketball action Saturday at the Millis Center.
Summer Price scored all 14 of her points in the final period;
Caroline Bowns added 11 and Campbell (12-9, 5-5) held the Panthers without a field goal for the last 6:13 of play.
High Point (13-9, 7-3) led by as many as eight in the first half and by 32-29 after three quarters. However, the Camels held the Panthers to just 3-of-12 from the floor in the final period and 35 percent (16-46) for the game.
Campbell entered the contest ranked third in the country in scoring defense (53.3) and matched its fewest points allowed against a Division I opponent this year.
Meanwhile, Campbell hit 7-of-11 from the floor in the final period, including 3-of-5 from 3-point distance to win its third game in the last four outings.
After Camryn Brown gave High Point a 44-43 lead with a pair of free throws with 4:00 remaining, Bowns banked in a three at the end of the shot clock on the next possession to start Campbell's game-ending rally.
High Point, which missed its final five shots from the field, dropped its second-straight game and third in the last four contests.
The Big South's second-leading scorer at 15.4 points per game, Price missed her first five attempts from the floor and was scoreless until she drove to the bucket with 8:49 left and trimmed High Point's advantage to 35-33. Price connected on a pair of threes in Campbell's next two possession during a 10-2 run that put the Camels in front 43-39 with 5:54 remaining.
She finished 5-of-10 from the field overall, while Bowns knocked down a trio of 3-pointers.
MaKala Rouse added 9 points and 8 rebounds.
Hayley Barber came off the bench to chip in 8 points and 3 steals.
Emma Bockrath led High Point with 12 points and 9 rebounds, while Kennedy Currie chipped in 10 points.
With neither team leading by more than four in the first half, High Point took a 21-19 edge at intermission.
Campbell returns to action Tuesday in a 7:00 p.m. start at Charleston Southern.
