Camels welcome Tribe for weekend series

Campbell will face William & Mary in a three-game set at Jim Perry Stadium. Friday's series opener is set for 3 p.m., followed by a Saturday doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.

BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- The Fighting Camels are back in action this weekend with a three-game home series against the William & Mary Tribe. Friday's series opener is slated for a 3 p.m. first pitch, followed by a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at Jim Perry Stadium.

The first two games of the series will be streamed live on the Big South Network, while game two of Saturday's doubleheader will feature an audio-only stream on GoCamels.com. Fans will only need one ticket for both games on Saturday.

Campbell (4-8) is coming off a 4-1 loss at home to No. 10 NC State Wednesday night. Redshirt senior Allan Winans produced a quality start despite the loss, firing six strikeouts as he held one of the nation's top offenses to just two runs over 6.0 innings.

Senior infielder Christian Jones and freshman catcher Ty Babin were recently honored by the Big South for their efforts on the diamond last week (Feb. 28 - March 4). Jones was named the conference's Player of the Week, hitting 6-for-16 (.375) with homers in back-to-back games and a Big South-leading .813 slugging percentage. Babin earned Freshman of the Week honors after driving in nine runs, including a six-RBI performance in CU's win over Bowling Green.

William & Mary (4-10) will face its third-straight Big South opponent when it visits Buies Creek. The Tribe took two-of-three last weekend against High Point (March 2-4), then split a two-game midweek pairing with Radford (March 6-7).

Zach Pearson leads the Tribe with a .321 batting clip, 10 runs scored and 17 hits. Hunter Smith is W&M's top slugger, posting a .436 slugging percentage with a team-high two homers and 10 RBI.

William & Mary holds a 7-5 edge in the all-time series between the two programs. The last time these two teams met, Campbell won both games of a doubleheader on March 4, 2015.

Following the weekend, Campbell will host the Rider Broncs in a two-game midweek series on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 13-14. For the most up-to-date information on Campbell baseball, follow @GoCamelsBSB on Twitter.
