Chris Marx announced the addition of former graduate assistant
Tyler Cotto to the staff as Director of Player Development.
"Campbell baseball has always been about taking care of our own, and Tyler is someone who has earned this opportunity through the impact he's made on our program over the last two years," said Marx. "He has the ability to build meaningful relationships with our players while challenging them to reach a higher standard, both on and off the field. His passion for player development, no job too small mentality, and commitment to our culture make him the ideal person to lead this area of our program."
Cotto spent the past two seasons as a graduate assistant for the Camels, helping guide the program through its historic 2026 campaign. Campbell finished 41-17 overall while posting a CAA-best 26-4 conference record. The Camels earned the No. 1 seed in the CAA Championship and produced eight All-CAA selections.
"Im incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue on staff with Coach Marx and the rest of our coaching staff," said Cotto. "I'm excited to continue helping our program in an even bigger role. I can't wait to keep building on what we've started as we chase more championships and our goal of Omaha. RDH!"
During his time as a graduate assistant, Cotto assisted in all aspects of the program's operations. He worked directly with Campbell's catchers, hitters and position players, creating individualized development plans and game strategies. He supported the Camels in several areas including, travel logistics, equipment management, and practice planning.
In addition, Cotto served as Campbell's camp coordinator, overseeing camp planning, staffing, scheduling, registration and day-to-day operations. His efforts contributed to increased camp attendance and enrollment compared to previous years.
As a player, Cotto spent three seasons as a catcher at Austin Peay before transferring to Queens University of Charlotte for his final collegiate season.
Cotto earned his bachelor's degree in management from Queens University of Charlotte in May 2024 before completing his Master of Science in Leadership at Campbell in May 2026.
