WILMINGTON, N.C. – A pair of Camels opened the 2018 outdoor season with runner-up finishes, leading Campbell Friday at the Wendy's Seahawk Invitational Friday, hosted by UNC Wilmington at the Harold Greene Track & Field Complex.
On the men's side,
Andrew Ward finished second in the hammer thrown with a 45.19 meter heave.
Caitlyn Vester also took second in the women's hammer throw with a 38.83 meter toss.
C. Daequon Carr also advanced to Saturday's men's 100 meter dash finals with a time of 11.27, good for seventh in the preliminaries.
Brett Parks, meanwhile, placed 13th in the men's long jump with a 6.06 meter mark.
In the women's javelin,
Kirah Forney finished 13th with a throw of 21.95 meters.
Avonti Holt also took 12th in the women's 100 meter dash preliminaries with a 12.85 mark.
Action resumes tomorrow at 10 a.m. for the final day of the Seahawk Invitational.
